One of the services Japanese companies frequently consult us about is local area visits. Recently, we accompanied an HR representative from a Japanese head office on a local visit to Madrid.

One of the main purposes of these visits is to help companies understand what everyday life would be like for employees relocating to the area. What kind of property can be rented within the company’s housing allowance? Which neighborhoods would be suitable? What would the commute and daily shopping look like? By walking through the city together, we help HR representatives gain a realistic picture of what life in the area would be like.

Madrid, for example, has its own unique characteristics in terms of its cityscape, residential environment, and transportation, which differ from those in the Netherlands. Even within Europe, housing, transportation, and living environments can vary significantly from one country or city to another, as can the challenges faced by employees relocating overseas.

We believe that giving HR representatives the opportunity to experience local conditions firsthand is an important step in considering how best to support employees who will be relocating to the area.
